Horns

We will never see another Stephen King in our lifetime. But in a world lacking in quality horror, his son is doing an admirable job of writing good, easy and enjoyable to read horror. I’m only 1/3 of the way through Horns, but it is an excellent read.  It flows.  it rarely hangs up.  It is engaging.  And while not a “page turner” because it is not a mystery or thriller “who done it”, though there are [...]

Sci-Fi Crimes- Chevelle Review

I have a hard time reviewing music.  Let’s get this out of the way.  I know what I like, and I know what I don’t like.  In fact, music is so subjective, i don;t know how anyone reviews it.  It can be easier with a movie: how is the plot, how is the acting, how is the directing.  But music is much more subjective.  If you love a band, there’s a good chance you’ll love anything [...]

Messiah War Review

I hate time travel.  I hate time travel stories, even the good ones (like the current X-factor story).  Thinking about the ramifications hurt my head, even when it is futuretime traveling.  There is just no need for it.  Unfortunately, the two characters most concerned with the last mutant born, Hope, are time hoppers: Cable and Bishop. Both chacaretrs were great when first introduced in the 90′s, and both should have been killed off long ago [...]

Spongebob Summer Bash Review- To Squarepants or Not to Squarepants

Tonight debuted the first new episode in the Spongebob Summer Bash 10 Year Anniversary Special. It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t horrible either.  The premise is quite simple: Spongebob ruins all of his square pants in the dryer, so he has to buy new pants.  The store is out of square pants, but they have a nice pair of round pants, which SB purchases. Neither Patric nor Sandy recognize SB, and Squidward pretends not to, so [...]

Punisher- 6 Hours to Kill

Quick reviewof the last Punisher MAX storyline.  I tend to wait until an entire arc is completed before I read it. Its hard living up to the standard of Garth Ennis when it comes to writing ultra-violent comics, like Preacher (best comic ever published) and his 50 or so issues of Punisher. I’ll admit, when the story first started, I though it had potential.  Don’t get me wrong, it was an enjoyable read.  Quick, like [...]

Daily Spongebob thought: June 16th. Rule of Dumb

Watching Rule of Dumb, where Patrick learns he is king.  Excellent episode, showing ho absolute power, even imaginary, can corrupt, even the dumbest of creatures.  He steals food and comic books and a baby’s pacifier and tries to have Squidward’s house to build his own ferris wheel.  He asks whether he should hang his TV over the swimming pool or Faberge eggs. And when he sees the monster that he has become in the mirror at the [...]
