The Daily Kos recently did a survey about news viewing habits of Americans. The original article and stats can be seen here.
A short analysis of the numbers can be seen here
I know, looking at the Kos is like watching a snuff film. It makes you sick to set eyes on it , but at the same time, you’re intrigued by how screwed up people can be. i mean, the Kos is a disgusting rag promoting those who want to see a European system here in America. Even looking at the ads can make you ill. But I digress.
First off, you have to take everything published in the Kos with a grain of salt because this is the type of publication that will filter and warp stats to prove whatever twisted hypothesis they want to prove. Anyway, what this survey basically established is that whites, southerners and Republicans watch Fox, while everyone else watches MSNBC and CNN. No big shock, on the surface, because people watch whatever news channel supports their own beliefs.
What surprises me, no what bothersme is this: after seeing what an utter and abominable failure this administration has proven to be, seeing how everyone is up in arms over the health care and the failed stimulus, we still see that minorities (according to this poll and other article) do not consider Fox News reliable.
Not only was Fox News, in an independent study during the election, the most non-biased, but they have been proven right on Obama and his policies time and time again , day after day, hour after hour, yet minorities still refuse to believe what Fox tells them because they don’t want to admit that the first minority president has failed them. I look at ex-Mayor Street in Philly and ex-Mayor Sharp James and ex-Mayor Marian Berry in DC in Newark and see men who got elected into office time after time because they were black and the populations were black despite. I mean, Berry was a crack addict, and he was still re-elected because his opponent was white.
What does Obama have to do before people see him for the monster he is? Torture and murder a bunch of dogs? Oh, wait, Michael Vick did that and their are still alot of people who think he did nothing wrong and will defend him to the death. Denial? Or refusal to ever agree with a white guy, even if he is right? How much damage will Barak have to do before Liberals, and minorities, wake up and say Fox was right all along?
I am a little sad because I would like to think that the minority population (at least the population surveyed in this poll) can look at Obama and the liberals and the liberal news stations and see how badly they were lied to the whole time. But sometimes people won’t accept the truth because they don’t want to accept the truth. Because it means that they failed. Because it means that they were wrong. And people don’t want to be wrong. They will live in their fantasy, embrace the fantasy as truth.
The fact that so many people would still cling to Obama and the Democrats despite much they have screwed up, despite how much they want to screw this country up , is a sad testament to how stubborn people can be even when the truth is staring them right in the face.
People don’t want to admit they screwed up, so they will stay true to the lie until the lie kills them
[...] Here is the original post: Fox News: Right the Whole Time [...]
Dear Brad,
You commented how people clinging to Obama and the Democrats “is a sad testament to how stubborn people can be even when the truth is staring them right in the face”. Here are a few facts:
-Fox & Friends co-host Steve Doocy stated, “War on terror must be over. In fact, terrorism is no longer a problem because the president never, not once, mentioned war on terror.” Actually, Obama did address the topic at length in his address at Cairo University, he just didn’t repeat the terror-terrorism mantra of the Bush administration. I think it was Fox News’ responsibility to get their facts straight before airing faulty stories on national television.
-Fox News commented on Obama’s “willingness to bomb suspected terrorist cells in Pakistan”, when Obama actually stated that he planned to reduce the bombing of Pakistan. If anything, Fox misquoted and distorted Obama’s words to, as you said regarding Kos, “prove whatever twisted hypothesis they want to prove”.
-In 2003, in an effort to legitimize Bush’s war in Iraq, Fox News asserted that “a 100-acre facility discovered by coalition forces at An Najaf is a chemical weapons plant”. A few weeks later Fox very briefly conceded that the chemicals detected at the facility were pesticides.
There might be good reasons many people consider Fox News unreliable. I respect your opinions, but I think you should do some more research before supporting the claim that Fox is “the most non-biased” media coverage.
Additionally, minorities support Obama for more reasons than him not being “a white guy”. Obama does not use his race as a crutch and neither should anyone else in arguments against him. Regrettably, his race is a factor in many people’s support of him, but just as many support him for the real issues that ought to be considered such as his policies.
Consider it,
Liza
But Obama has used his race to make decisions. It may be minor, but simply looking a the whole policeman fiasco is a wondeful example. He never looked at the facts of the case. All he knew was that a white police officer arrested a black man in his own home, and all of a sudden, the police officer did something stupid. Never mind that a police offer is walking into a house that was “broken into”, he does not know if there may be people with weapons in another room, and he is concerned for his safety. The police offer was doing his job with, from ALL accounts, an uncooperative, racist, YES, racist man, and all of a sudden, this police officer is a racist, and according to the president, he is stupid.
Much like Obama has done most of his time in office, he reacted to this situation not with objectivity, not with equanimity, not with a color-blind eye, but with pure emotion, in this case driven by race. The officer was doing his job in an unknown location where this “crazy”man may have been acting as a diversion for other people in the house to start shooting, and the white man is stupid.
And on a seperate note, I can never, and will never, forget that Obama’s spiritual leader for ten years (and who would probably still be his religious leader if he weren’t president) is a racist and an anti-semite. I have NEVER heard more hateful, inflammatory speach by a man of the cloth in my life time, and knowing that Obama listened to this crap for ten years. I don;t believe for a single moment that Obama did not know his pastor was a racist. if you a re a religious person, you know that most people choose a church based on the personality and shared beliefs with the spiritual leader. You are not going to listen to a sermon every week if you don’t agree with your pastor’s ideas. If your pastor is a flaming racist, you can not, with a clear conscience, sit in those pews every week and listen to him spewing hatred if you aren’t a racist
And there is no way Obama “coveniently” missed every single inflammmatory sermon over ten years. sorry darling. He must harbor some dislike for whites (and I know he is part white), he follow this racist as his spiritual leader.
And as for FOX, no one’s perfect. But you know what. Independent studies, yes, INDEPENDENT studies conducted during and after the election showed that FOX was the least biased- they balanced good and bad stories for each candidate. If you take the time to look, you can find the stories.
Look, what bother me most is the half lies. I am tired hearing Obama and dem congressman get up in front of American citizens and say “If you like your health plan, if you like you’re doctors, you get to keep them!” This may be true to the letter of the bill- there is no provision forcing people into a public plan. But soemtimes, all the time, actually, you haveto look PAST the rhetoric and use some common sense, If there is a public option, estimates are that 1/3 of employers will drop private health and enroll their employees in the public plan. So you know what? Obama may not be lying, but he IS lying, Because you have to look beyond what is written to the inevitable fallout. A public plan will not intially force out private plans, but he knows full well (he is not a stupid man), that eventually a government entity that does NOT have to make profit and can not go bankrupt will inevitably wipe out private health insurance. it’s not written, but you all you ahve to do is follow the logic a coupel of more steps. Like playign chess, you have to udnerstand the ramifications one move has ten moves later.
Look, if you like Obama, good for you. If you want a public plan, fine. But the truth is the truth. There are many ways to begin fixing the problem, such a allowing people to buy health isnurance across state lines, whcih would increase competition. You can fix tort reform and get rid of all of these bogus malpractice cases which cost doctors billions a year. You can do a lot of things to FIX healthcare without tearing it down, without giving government control over soemthign they have no right to control. But Obama, and many of the far Left will not even consider fixing the problem. theyw ant a public plan or nothing
Bceause its not about health. its about control. And please don’t kid yourself that its anything more. bceuase if they cared about healthcare, they would start fixing it using the methods I listed above. But its public option or nothing, because it all about control.
How did cash for clunkers work? Ran out of money 3 months early, and have paid less than 10% back to dealers. The government can not, and should not, be running healthcare. Its not there place. Whats afte that? grocery stores? once this line is crossed, the skies the limit for what the Dems can take control over.
