I didn’t want to revisit this story, at least not this soon, but hearing this woman’s lawyer speak, it just makes me ill. He’s not a doctor, yet he gets up there and offers all of these other explanations for how this woman could have been incapacitated.
Gestational diabetes? That’s diabetes you get when pregnant. It can linger, but this is just ridiculous
A lump on her leg? Huh?
An abscess in her mouth? Nope. And I can attest to that as an oral expert.
A stroke? A woman who has had a stroke most likely would not make it all the way up an off ramp and then drive for 2 more miles
Its sad that this man was unaware of his wife’s problem, but as a recently published article explains, we shouldn’t be surprised. The percentage of women who have drinking problems is on the rise. And, quite alarmingly, the percentage of women who will climb into a war with children while drunk is also on the rise. But, as this article explains, women with drinking problems tend not to drink in public, unlike men. They do it in private, because they feel they have to keep up the public image of being the perfect wife and perfect mother.
And because this addiction is fed during alone time, it is less obvious, and therefore it is much harder to recognize women who need help.
But all of this being said, who the hell climbs into a car while drunk with children in the backseat. I like to think their is a special place in hell for women like this.
I understand the need for this husband to have a lawyer. The families of the people killed by his wife will be looking for their pound of flesh. But to hire the man who defended Joey Butafuoco? Come on, find someone who hasn’t tried to explain why it was his client’s prerogative to rape his wife.
This whole thing is a mess, and I look forward to seeing further results
