Well, I watched the special tonight, and I was left with mixed feelings on the experience.

The idea had to be explored. Ever since we were introduced to Poof, I knew we would see an Anti-Poof. After all, every fairy has an anti-fairy. And if you though about it, you knew what you would get: everything opposite of Poof.

Poof is round, Foop is square

Poof acts and thinks like a baby, he acts and thinks like an adult

Poof is good, he is evil

Poof is simple, he is an evil genius

Poof is always wide awake, he is… well… he likes to sleep

The plot is quite simple. Anti-Wanda has a baby, and he is pure evil. And he wants to be the only powerful fairy baby. So he sets out to eliminate Poof. The first half of the episode is the set up: the birth of Foop, his learning of Poof, his first encounter with Wanda, Cosmo, and Timmy, and his path of wanton destruction through both Fairy and Anti-fairy World. The second half is the battle between Poof and Foop.

The epsidoe was entertaining if not wonderful. Personally, I enjoy the Timmy-centric specials and episodes. The ones that focus too much on the fairies, while they may be expanding the FOP universe, stray too much from what makes the cartoon endearing: Timmy’s interaction with his fairy god parents. The battle between Poof and Foop was a little too long, and quite frankly, a little on the silly side, but mildly entertaining.

The usual jokes are here, like Cosmos bathroom humor and getting confused by his own name, and anti-Wanda’s hillbilly insanity. And the usual weird stuff. And I mean weird. I’m talking a gigantic cow with eight spider legs and huge, dangling udders. Really, really bizarre stuff. And all of the major players are involved, though I would like to have seen the Pixies, and I would like to have seen Jorgan play a bigger role. Maybe the toothfairy, too (or not).

Foop reminded me a little of Stewie from Family Guy, though without the homosexual undertones. Its hard these days to do an infant evil genius and not have him compared to Stewie griffin. At least they gave Foop an evil moustache.

This episode was nothing special, but entertaining enough to sit through at least once just to experience the insanity. I wish Timmy had been given a bigger role, but this was purely a fairy-on-fairy conflict, and Timmy, while he plays an important role, pretty much sits this one out for most of the time.

So give it a whirl. And let me know what you think.

Any fan of Family Guy knows that the past few seasons have been hit or miss, more miss than hit, unfortunately. American Dad is actually a more consistently funny show these days.

There were several good episodes, many so-so episodes, but only 2 really stand out episodes, those being Road to Germany and the Not All Dogs Go To Heaven. Stew-roids was fair, as was the episode where Peter becomes gay. But Germany and Heaven were by far the best.

As you all know, the bets episodes of Family Guy are the “Road to” episodes featuring Brian and Stewie: From the original series, Road to Rhode Island and the one where Stewie wants to live on Jolly Farm. And from the newer episodes, the one where the two go to find Rupert and the Road to Germany.

The entire episode was a rip roaring adventure filled with movie references, including Back to the Future and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Not a single boring part of this episode, though McFarlane’s political pushing is getting very annoying. Claiming we didn’t invade Germany in the 40′s because they have no oil was in poor taste. I am getting sick and tired of what I consider Seth’s very ignorant, very Hollywood political commentary. But that is a discussion for another time.

The bets part of this episode was when Hitler offers to let the trio of Mort, Stewie and Brian go if they perform a lively showtune. Now, as you know form past “Road” episodes, they are filled with songs, some okay, some annoying. And we fully expect Brian and Stewie to break out into song. Until Mort goes to the two, “Just get into the (bleeping) time machine!” This- was -hysterical. All in all, a fun episode that you wish wouldn’t end.

As for the Not All Dogs Go to Heaven, the Meg part of the episode is not great, but the Star Trek part is AWESOME. I loved Star Trek: TNG, and I admit, I miss it. And if I can not get new episodes of this series (now off the air for 15 years), I can be happy watching scenes like those found in this episode. I have it taped on my computer and watch it every couple of days. The interaction between the characters, and the on-liners, are memorable, from the drive through at McDonalds, to the Bowling Alley, to the end of the episode, where Stewie teleports them all away. While it helps a little to know the show and the characters, it is not necessary to enjoy this episode. I highly recommend everyone to watch this episode. or at least teh Stark Trek parts of the episode. you can fast forward through the rest.
